Maureen Fullam silver leafed 12" round convex mirror. The mirror is equipped to be hung. Maureen employes the ancient technique of Verre Eglomise, or reverse gilding, to create a reflective surface, and each is lightly oxidized.
Maureen Fullam has spent the last four decades mastering the art of verre églomisé, the revered French technique of reverse gilding on glass, bringing a meticulous attention to detail and a deep reverence for tradition to each piece she creates, from paperweights to ceiling installations.
Armed with a delicate badger-hair brush in her Hudson Valley studio, Fullam relies on the centuries-old technique of applying silver leafing to the rear face of piece of glass before drying, buffing and burnishing it, and then repeating the process over again. It's a laborious week-long endeavor that results in not just a mirror, but a piece of art.
A graduate of the Philadelphia College of Art, Fullam has collaborated with leading architects and designers have placed her works in everything from private residences to grand public spaces.
